Mobile Bird Cage

MOBILE BIRDCAGE – BLACKTOWN WESTPOINT

Our client Proline Scaffolding was engaged to provide access to the glass atrium roof 4 levels above the food court of the shopping centre.

With a 13.0m Span and the public 16.0m below, considerable effort was placed in the risk management and procedures to allow this project to be completed to the highest safety standards.

After preliminary discussions with our client and the builder, the concept of placing the scaffolding on wheels was conceived. By allowing the scaffold to move along the void, this would reduce the amount of gear required, the hours of labour needed to complete the structure and could minimise the risk of install by allowing the lattice beams to be set-up from the side and moved into position on the tracks.

Scaffold Studio transitioned this concept into reality with the collaboration of resources with Layher Australia, Benchmark Scaffolding, and, Ross Engineers to deliver a design that could overcome the myriad of complications and safety requirements to create a scaffold that pushed the limits of design whilst maintaining an uncompromising focus on safety.

The result was a tiered birdcage scaffold that was placed on purpose-built tacks using ladder beams and tube. The Keder Roof Trolley (Wheels) were the key to allowing this scaffold to move along the track being specially designed by Layher to allow for this large structure to be moved simply using a hand come-along.

Proline Scaffolding successfully completed the structure over a weeklong period during nights to ensure no disruptions to the shopping centre and its clients.

From concept to delivery, Scaffold Studio delivered a design that provided the best possible outcomes for our client, the builder and public safety.
